Hi everyone!
For the second issue of my web magazine, we came up with something a little unusual, partly because I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, but also because it’s so obvious and visible.
Well, I’m usually pretty apolitical here, but this time we’re diving headfirst into the mess and expecting chaos from all sides! To be clear, I’m not picking sides, and I never ever will. Still, we decided together as a team that even in this case, we want to document the zeitgeist.
When we were last in Wuppertal to take photos, we unfortunately stumbled into a really unlucky situation, and had to run. Still, we couldn’t help but notice in countless places around the city just how political the stickers there are.
As you can see, people protest on utility boxes, lampposts, and of course traffic lights about various issues, such as affordable housing.
At times, very understandable and logically sound motivations.
It’s almost like in regular everyday life, sometimes you just get the rat poison, thank god there’s also super sweet girls, and some random name tags. Nothing too fancy, but also far from awful. The houses there also feature some pretty neat ideas to make the whole fight for or against culture fit in the urban environment.
As you can see, a homeowner suggests to the protesters and artists that they should only be creative below the line that blocks his view on the action, and probably also so that no one paints over or smashes the windows.
Among all the legitimate demands, you also keep coming across ideas that are somehow ideologically driven — for example, joining communism, overcoming capitalism, and abolishing gender and patriarchy. Of course, no one really knows how realistic or widely accepted these demands actually are. But they seem to be pretty visible for everyone.
We also came across soccer fans showing support for their clubs. But there are also more serious occasions, such as the death of individuals or certain assaults by the government.
In times like these, when the next war is already right at the doorstep and the government is just waiting to throw your children into the meat grinder, you naturally also find people who refuse to accept that. Oh and some don’t want more police and oppresive laws.
And the shameful part, for me… four more photos, but one has got totally burnt out highlights, but I still thought it might be visible enough to be included.
And that’s it for today, we hope you enjoyed it!
